I’m a Bend in the River
The in-between existence of the Mississippi batture and its inhabitants has inspired these CinemaScopic paintings. Haunting and deterring at the same time, the battered land changes its identity out of sight, right behind the man-made levee. Water, wind, and vegetation perpetually create and destroy works of art for no one to see, with passage of time as the only invariable. If the perils of the muddy water came in Kool-Aid colors like the sublime sunset full of chemicals, would they raise concerns or would they add to the enjoyment?
