The Passenger
These paintings were inspired by a film by Antonioni, a song by Iggy Pop, and the dark side of New Orleans. The city is full of things that are ugly and beautiful at the same time: the things that the locals love and hate equally. Still, there is virtue within the fatalistic unease that the residents pacify with temporary pleasure. Dark cityscapes and urban highways in these nocturnes exemplify the sense of alienation and uncertainty with each scene mimicking the blurred vision of the passenger in a moving vehicle.
