Back in Black
The subject matter of this series were found in my daily walk from a streetcar stop to my small painting studio in New Orleans. Most of the colorful flora were cared for by homeowners to liven up their front porches, and the others grew out of cracks in the pavement. The wear and tear of recycled cardboard boxes attach history to their seasonal existence, and emulate grace of the painted nature caged inside the machine-cut edges and geometric grid.
